Worker Rescued After Falling into Trench at Spectra Pipeline Site
A worker fell 15 feet into a trench along Route 1 north in Dedham late Monday night.

Firefighters were forced to scramble into action late Monday night after a worker fell 15 feet into a trench along the Spectra pipeline construction site in Dedham.
The worker was knocked unconscious when he fell into the trench around 11:30 p.m. on Route 1 north, just outside of Legacy Place.

Fire officials said the worker was in and out of consciousness while the technical rescue was taking place. Three firefighters and a backhoe was used to pull the worker out of the trench.
EMT’s at the scene were able to stabilize the victim for transport. Officials said the worker suffered neck and back injuries, but did not break any bones. He was transported to Beth Israel Hospital.
