Comedic Dinner Theatre Taking Flight at Dover-Sherborn

The DS Summer Drama Program will be performing the comedic mystery dinner theatre, 'Murder in the Air', at the Sherborn Community Center.

Comedy, mystery, and suspense are coming to the Sherborn Community Center this summer. The historic 1858 Town House in Sherborn is being transformed into an airplane hangar at LAX in the late 60’s for the fictional “Air Ninny” airlines. Thirty Dover-Sherborn Middle and High School students have been rehearsing throughout the summer for the upcoming comedic murder-mystery dinner theatre, Murder in the Air.

Audience members will enjoy the festivities as “guests” at the 63rd birthday bash for the zillionaire airplane aficionado, Lord Ninny. The evening takes a turn for the worse when the attendees learn that the celebration soon becomes an investigation into Lord Ninny’s murder. A night filled with laughs and suspense will ensue in this hilarious whodunnit!

Scott Walker, Founder and Director of the Dover Sherborn Summer Drama Program, is also celebrating a milestone – the 15-year anniversary of bringing summer theatre to the community. “We are excited to return for our 15th summer with one of our hilarious murder mystery dinner theaters. While we are always excited to see familiar faces returning as cast and crew members year after year, we also are seeing a wave of new students join the program this summer, which is exciting and helps to rejuvenate the program post-pandemic. This show gives all of our cast members a chance to act as leads on stage and interact as improvisational characters with the audience - a truly unique skill!”

The audience will enjoy a three-course catered dinner from Zaftigs as they interact with the cast through scripted and improv portions of the production in an effort to follow the many plot twists and solve the puzzling whodunnit. The grand finale of this interactive theatre includes the audience members guessing who the murderer is for a chance to win a prize. Walker quips, “These dinner theaters have always been a hit and made our audiences want to come back for seconds!”

Put on your detective hats and take a stab at solving who the culprit is in this zany mystery show - all while feasting on a fantastic dinner. The performances for Murder in the Air will appeal to all ages. Show dates are Wednesday, August 24th through Saturday, August 27th at 6:00 p.m. at the Sherborn Community Center. Don’t miss this fun-filled experience with food, entertainment, and mystery!
