Five Things You Need to Know This Weekend: Feb. 3-4

Be sure to check here for useful information about what is going on in Dover and Sherborn this weekend.

1. The Dover Town Library will a Soup-er Fun Family Night, on Sunday. The event will be a chili/soup cook-off featuring restaurants from around the area including the Dover Market, the Sherborn Inn and Spiga. The winner by popular vote will get the "Golden Ladle". Tickets are $5 per person and $20 per family. Proceeds will go to the Friends of the Dover Library. For more information visit the Friends website.

2. The Dover Church will continue its 250th Anniversary Year celebration on March 4 at 10:00 am, with their third commemorative service reflecting on 1862 and the impact of the Civil War on the church. The service will include music by Dudley Buck and Horatio Parker, mid-1800 Boston composers whose music compositions reflect the emotions and attitudes of the time. There will also be a coffee hour, that will include a display of Civil War regalia as well as food from recipes of the mid 1800’s. The event will also feature special historic games for children.

3. The Sherborn Capital Budget Committee will meet on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. at the Sherborn Town Hall.

4. Take out your stretchy pants and yoga mats for yoga at Unity Hall at the Unitarian Universalist Area Church at First Parish in Sherborn on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

5. Ever think your kids could learn Chinese in Dover? The Dover Town Library is teaching Mandarin Chinese through music, songs, and games for kids of almost all ages! The program is free and no registration is required. There are two sessions on Saturday: 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 for kids ages 6-months to 4-years-olds; 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for 8-year-olds to 12-year-olds.
