Linsky Announces Grant Money For Sherborn Cultural Council

The Sherborn Cultural Council received a $3,870 grant by the Mass. Cultural Council today.

Representative David Linsky (D-Natick) announced today that grants totaling $12,890 have been awarded to local cultural councils in his district by the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC).

These grants are part of the Local Cultural Council Program and support a variety of cultural activities in the area.

“I am pleased to announce these grants to the cultural councils in my district,” said Representative Linsky. “These grants help to ensure that cultural resources in our area are available to residents and help preserve the rich cultural sector in the Commonwealth for generations to come.”

The Local Cultural Council Program (LCC), offering $2.3 million in grants for FY12, is the most extensive cultural funding system of its kind in the nation. This grassroots network provides funding to every Massachusetts city and town through 329 LLCs and 2,000 volunteer members.

The councils support local arts and history, fund school field trips, and sponsor local concerts and exhibitions.

This year, the Natick Cultural Council will receive $5,150, the Sherborn Cultural Council will receive $3,870, and the Millis Cultural Council will receive $3,870 in local grants.
