MassDEP Offers to Test Some Sherborn Wells
The MassDEP has offered to test up to 20 private wells in Sherborn - that are closest to the General Chemical site - on Kendall, Coolidge, Meadowbrook, Perry, and Prospect Streets.

The following is a release from the Sherborn Board of Health.
An industrial site in Framingham, now owned by the General Chemical Corporation, has long been contaminated with industrial solvents used for things like degreasing and dry cleaning. These solvents can be removed from water with activated charcoal filters.
The site is north of Sherborn, on Leland Street in Framingham. The Mass Department Environmental Protection is overseeing a General Chemical project to better define the extent and quantities of contaminants before a mitigation plan is designed.

While there is a reasonable expectation that the contaminants have not entered the bedrock aquifer, the MassDEP has offered to test up to 20 private wells in Sherborn.
The testing has been selected for specific residences on Kendall, Coolidge, Meadowbrook, Perry, and Prospect Streets.

These wells include the residences that are closest to the site, and those that border the Course Brook valley that runs below the site.
The offers to test and consent forms have been mailed to the selected residences. Test results should be available in about six weeks.
The Sherborn Board of Health recommends that all private well owners have their well water tested on a regular basis.
