Pine Hill School Changes Dismissal Process
A notice from Pine Hill School Principal Veronica I. Kenney about the changing of the dismissal process once school begins.

Dear Parents/Guardians,
The safety of your children is our number one priority at Pine Hill School. During dismissal last year we had several incidents that were quite dangerous, where students or cars narrowly missed being hit. As a result, we revised our dismissal process to one that should be much safer. The new procedure is comparable to that used at area schools. The major change is that children will be dismissed to vehicles following bus departure. Please review the following procedures as cited in this year’s Family Handbook:
Pick Up: If you must pick up your child please do so at 3:00 (or 12:00 on an early release day). A reminder: Children are expected to be in school from 8:20 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. If it is necessary to pick them up earlier, you will need to park in the back parking lot and meet them at the front office. The following procedure will improve students’ safety:

• Drivers should remain in their cars and form a line coming up Pine Hill Lane. The first car should stop near the front lobby, at the pine tree mosaic. Buses will pass to the left of the cars and enter the bus loop.
• After the buses have left, drivers should pull into the bus loop as far as possible. After being called the children being dismissed will be sent out from the back lobby (near the gym).

• After the children are safely secured in the cars, drivers are asked to put on their left blinker and wait to be signaled by a staff member.
• If a driver needs to enter the building, he/she should park in the rear parking lot.
Please note: In many schools parents/guardians are required to come into the building to get their children. We will continue to dismiss students to your vehicles to make this process more efficient.
If you have any questions you may contact me via phone or email.
Sincerely, Veronica I. Kenney
