If your tax bill seemed too hefty this year, it may make you feel better to look at the average bill for other towns.

According to a spreadsheet based on information published by the state Division of Local Services, Sherborn, Dover and Westwood are ranked first, second and third for the highest average tax bill within a 15-mile radius, in order of most-expensive to least-expensive. 

The average tax bill for the 37 towns surrounding Dover, Sherborn and Westwood was $5,962.

In order of most to least expensive, here are the average single-family tax bills for 2013:
