Three Local Scouts Attain Eagle Rank

About five percent of Boys Scouts attain the rank of Eagle, according to the Boy Scouts of America website.

Three Boys Scouts from Troop 1 Dover were recognized at an Eagle Court of Honor ceremony on Sunday, March 18, at the Dover Church.

Friends, family, clergy, fellow scouts and troop leaders came together to celebrate and recognize the achievements of Frank Gallagher, Michael Shaner and Harry Stone, all seniors at Dover-Sherborn High School.

In order to attain the rank of Eagle Scout, the boys had to earn a minimum of 21 different merit badges, including 12 required Eagle badges, along with completing an Eagle Scout project.

The boys performed numerous hours of community service and each submitted, planned and executed their Eagle Projects serving the community in some way to complete their final requirements.

Gallagher hosted a from Boston at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church in Dover, Shaner and and Stone organized, collected and delivered hundreds of books to less fortunate kids all over the Boston area in conjunction with a literacy program.

Sen. Scott Brown wrote in a letter commemorating the acheivment, "I have no doubt that you will achieve great things in life, if you are willing to apply the same dedication and motivation. It is truly an honor to represent such outstanding young people as you, and I wish you continued success in all your future endeavors."
