Kids will work on their reading skills and pet cats at the same time.
By Paige McAtee
There’s going to be a cat-filled story time at the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts, Wednesday, July 30.
Kids of all ages are able to sign up through the Free Ames Library for a 15 minute time slot to read to the cats between 3:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Those who sign up for the event will go into the cat lounge and be able to read to the animals any story of their choosing. Any book is allowed. Picture books or large novels, it doesn’t matter since the cats are unable to read.
The animals may not be able to understand the story, but they will be able to get attention they might not receive otherwise.

“As long as there are open spots, anyone can register up until the last minute,” said Ames Free Library worker Jed Phillips.
Registration is required. Anyone interested can sign up here.
