Easton Man Arrested for Assault and Battery on Police

Police arrested an Easton man Sunday night after he allegedly became "extremely belligerent" toward police.

An Easton man was arrested Sunday night after he allegedly assaulted two Easton Police Officers.

James F Brown, 52, of Easton was arrested and charged with two counts of assault/battery on police, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct, Police Chief Allen Krajcik said.

Krajcik said the incident occurred at approximately 6 p.m. when police responded to a disturbance call at 10 Rufus Lane. The caller reported that a male party was "acting in a threatening manner toward her and also was threatening harm toward himself."

Upon arrival, Krajcik said Brown became extremely belligerent toward Officer Leonard Coe and Sgt. Dan O’Reilly.

Brown is 6 feet tall and weighs 350 pounds.

"The officers called for assistance and used pepper spray to try and subdue him," Krajcik said.

Brown was eventually handcuffed and transported to Easton Police Station. He was released on bail and arraigned in Taunton District Court Monday.
