Easton Police: 3 DUI Crashes In One Night

EASTON, MA — Easton police said officers arrested three drivers in an eight-hour span Thursday after they crashed while driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

“It is very fortunate that no one was seriously injured or killed in any of these crashes,” Easton police Chief Gary Sullivan said in a statement. “With taxis and ride sharing apps, there is no excuse to get behind the wheel while under the influence of alcohol or drugs."

The first crash happened Thursday at about 5:15 p.m. on Main Street. Police said John Morrill, 50, of Bridgewater, was driving under the influence of drugs when he crashed his Nissan sedan into another car occupied by a man and his child. No one was hurt in the crash. Morrill was charged with operating under the influence of drugs, negligent driving, a lane violation and possession of klonopin and gabapentin.

The second crash happened Thursday at about 11:15 p.m. on Beaver Dam Road. Police said Risa Tripp, 22, of Foxborough, was drunk when she crashed her Chevrolet pickup truck into a stone wall and utility pole on Beaver Dam Road. Police said they found an open bottle of beer in the truck. Tripp was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent driving, a lane violation, failure to wear a seat belt and driving with an open container.

The third crash happened Friday at about 1:15 a.m. on Main Street. Police said Patrick Casaletto, 21, of Wakefield, was drunk when he crashed his BMW into a fire hydrant and stone wall. The car flipped on its roof. Casaletto was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. He was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent driving and a lane violation.
