Letter to the Editor: Easton Would Benefit From Fulginiti's Character and Drive
A letter in support of Dottie Fulginiti

To the Editor:
I am writing to enthusiastically support Dorothy Fulginiti (Dottie) in her bid for a seat on the Easton Board of Selectmen. My first opportunity to know Dottie came several years ago as we patiently waited for our young daughters to finish their dance lessons in the basement of Miss Eileen’s house on Bay Road—a very low budget and homey place to introduce our children to tap, ballet, and jazz. It has always amazed me what you can learn about a person in such tight quarters. As we waited for our daughters, with other children in tow, I learned quite a bit. There were many issues facing Easton at the time, most critical among them, the continued development of open space, Easton’s fiscal situation, and quality of life issues that impact us all. It became readily apparent that Dottie was a passionate resident of Easton, well-educated on all the concerns facing our town.
Not long after our dancing school days, Dottie not only educated herself about what was going on in the community, but jumped in with both feet. She created an informative website to apprise Easton residents about Chapter 40B of the Massachusetts General Laws, or, the Affordable Housing Act. Dottie’s mission was to provide residents with information not only about the law, but about projects that were being considered in Easton. The site was professional, informative, and thorough.

Dottie’s strength lies not just with her intelligence and willingness to work hard, but also in her compassion and desire to help others. Dottie is active in the Lion’s Club, an organization dedicated to helping those with visual needs; she volunteers through her church and the Easton Food Pantry. Most recently, Dottie has worked hard to help breathe life back into the Easton Grange, an organization that focuses on local agriculture and all its benefits. Easton would most definitely benefit from having someone with Dottie’s character and drive at the helm or our town.
What strikes me most about Dottie’s candidacy, however, is that she is not motivated to run for local office because of any political agenda. Her decision flows from a pure desire to serve her community. Such altruism is a rare commodity. This wholly selfless motivation to run, coupled with her demonstrated ability to educate herself on the issues affecting all of us, make Dottie an ideal candidate for the Board of Selectmen and she has earned the support of all the registered voters in our household. Please consider joining us in supporting her as well.
