Letter to the Editor: Smith Brings Mix of Social Responsibility and Support of Local Businesses

A letter in support of candidate Dan Smith.

To the Editor:

I write in support of Dan Smith as Selectman of the Town of Easton. As a co-member of the Easton Planning Board I have gotten to know and appreciate the energy and enthusiasm that Dan brings to the board. Dan Smith is a candidate who will balance the needs of the community and local business.

Dan’s work on the Planning Board showcases his expertise as an entrepreneur, a leader in sustainable energy and an advocate for local business. The efforts and skill that Dan has brought to the complex issues of land use and planning, such as his leadership for the proposed solar field at the former town landfill site off Prospect St., as well his proposal of the installation of charging stations and priority parking for low emission vehicles during the plan review process for the proposed Queset Commons on Washington St., will bring value to the town while protecting its resources.

In addition to his promotion of sustainable energy, Dan has asked questions and proposed changes to projects which improve public safety. During the review of a large tent structure for Stonehill College he questioned the ability of emergency responders to access the structure. The town needs leaders who will inquire about and insist on putting the protection of our residents and first responders first.

Dan brings the right mix of social responsibility and support of local businesses, and it is why I endorse his candidacy for Selectman.
