New England Revolution Affiliate to Make Home in Easton This Summer

The Real Boston Rams will play home games at Muscato Stadium beginning in May.

If it wasn't already, Easton just became a soccer hot-spot.

The Real Boston Rams - a United Soccer League PDL team and newly-named affiliate of the New England Revolution - will be making their home on the Muscato Stadium turf this summer.

One of the men at the helm as general manager is Oliver Ames boys' soccer coach John Barata, who said he is excited about the idea of leading some of the area's best college soccer players.

"We fell in love with the idea of helping these college kids have a place to play and also provide a gateway to professional soccer," Barata said. "That’s why we became involved with this."

"We’re trying to provide a professional stepping stone for all these players with a very professional environment while they still have amateur status," he added.

Barata said the Rams chose Easton because of the soccer tradition in the area, and because of the close proximity to Boston.

Easton itself has a rich soccer tradition, as does the Hockomock League and the immediate area.

"At the end of the day, we have a great tradition in Easton with girls’ soccer and boys’ soccer – there is a rich tradition there," he said. " In addition, the town league has a rich tradition all in itself about developing great players and having a love for soccer. So, we really have a wonderful niche here that we can tap into."

The Rams' partnership with the New England Revolution will allow college-aged Revolution Academy youth team products the opportunity to play for the Rams during their PDL season, according to a recent press release.

The partnership will only increase the quality of soccer played in Easton this summer.

"It’s a gateway to professional soccer," Barata said. "A lot of people in MLS right now all started with the PDL."

Barata said admission to Rams games, which begin in May, will be cheap. Adults will gain entrance to Muscato Stadium will pay only $5 and children will be free. High school students with high school ID's will also be free.

"It’s a night out that is cheap, affordable, and you get to see some good soccer," Barata said.
