Position Summary Information

Position Summary

Live-in employees who promote and enhance a supportive community environment in his/her residence area which is conducive to academic achievement and personal growth

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

2. Familiarizes self with the students in the area and shows concern for each resident’s welfare. Counsels and refers students to appropriate campus services.

3. Supervises the social and educational programming efforts of Resident Assistants in his/her residence area and personally supports these programs.

4. Encourages, involves and promotes the Community Associate program in the area.

5. Advises and encourages the Hall Council in the area, as well as the Residence Hall Association.

6. Collaborates with Campus Ministry to support the student ministers in the residence halls.

7. Interprets and enforces college policies. Participates in a formal professional staff on-call rotation.

8. Chairs the Residence Area Discipline Committee (RADC.) in the area. Conducts disciplinary hearings and meetings with residents.

9. Oversees the physical maintenance of the residence area and relates maintenance needs to Facilities Management.

10. Is available at the closing and opening of the residence halls at the start and end of each break.

11. Assists with Resident Staff Assistant and Resident Assistant recruitment, selection, and training programs under the direction of the Assistant Director of Residence Life and attends professional staff training before each semester.

12. Assists with the Housing Lottery process.

13. Participates as a member of the College community in events and activities. Enhances communication between the Residence Life department and other campus offices through regular interaction and formal interdepartmental meetings, such as bi-weekly FABLE meetings (For A Better Living Environment), monthly Counseling & Testing Center meetings, monthly Campus Ministry meetings, regular Academic Services meetings, etc.

14. Participates in various Residence Life department meetings:
 weekly professional staff meetings
 weekly residence area staff meetings
 individual meetings with the Assistant/Associate Director of Residence Life
 staff development programs
 regular Hall Council meetings and programs

15. Assists with the long range planning of the Residence Life Office.

16. Coordinates assigned department-wide areas of responsibility, as determined by the central office staff.

17. Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Residence Life.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Perform aseptic microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process materials and finished products using USP test methods
Maintain the use of live microbiological agents and cultures.
Utilize, maintain, and troubleshoot microbiological instrumentation such as microscope, autoclave, incubators, refrigerators, freezers, biological safety cabinet, and automated microbiological incubation system.
Collect and analyze samples for environmental monitoring (water, swabs, and air) of microbiological load.  Evaluate data for trends.
Author standard operating procedures and microbiological methods.
Perform and document laboratory investigations as necessary.
Perform and document work in compliance with standard operating procedures, cGMP regulations, and applicable laboratory safety standards.

Associated duties and responsibilities:

Perform and/or assist with equipment calibrations and qualification.
Perform method validations, method transfers, and method troubleshooting.
Assist laboratory management in preparation for internal, customer and agency audits.
May be responsible for specific areas, functions, projects, and/or instrumentation based on experience and expertise.
Other related duties as required.

Qualified applicants for this excellent opportunity will possess:

A B.S. degree in microbiology or closely related discipline.
Experience in microbiological and/or chemistry laboratory.
Experience with aseptic technique and use of microbiological test methods.
Ability to follow standard operating procedures.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to organize, prioritize and effectively perform concurrent tasks with minimal supervision.
Strong attention to detail.
