3 Firefighters Injured While Battling Blaze At Falmouth House

One firefighter fell through the floor and was flown to Massachusetts General Hospital, while the others' injuries were less serious.

FALMOUTH, MA — Three firefighters were injured while responding to a house fire Sunday in Falmouth, according to a commonwealth official.

Neighbors saw smoke at the back of the home on Rivers Edge Road and called emergency personnel, Department of Fire Services Public Information Officer Jake Wark said in an email.

One firefighter fell through the floor and was extricated and flown to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was in stable condition with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, according to Wark.

The other two firefighters suffered injuries that were less serious and were treated at Falmouth Hospital, Wark said.

The house sustained major damage, according to Wark, who said local, state and federal agencies were investigating the cause and origin of the blaze.
