70+ MPH Winds, Snow Expected On Cape Cod, Islands Friday

FALMOUTH, MA — Wind gusts and snow are expected to hit Cape Cod and the Islands Friday, prompting the National Weather Service to issued a high wind warning.
It's expected to be a mix of rain and snow, with just 1 to 2 inches forecasted, but the wind will likely do the most damage.
The high wind warning was issued for parts of Barnstable, Dukes and Nantucket counties from 11 a.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday. Chatham, Falmouth, Provincetown, Vineyard Haven and Nantucket are some communities the National Weather Service says will see winds of 40 to 50 mph with gusts up to 70 mph.

There is also the danger of a flash freeze between 3 p.m and 7 p.m. Temperatures are expected to drop quickly in the region, from a high of 42 in the morning to a low of 10 degrees by the evening. Wind chill will make it feel even colder, though with a value of minus-5.
