Cape Cod Bear Tours Provincetown, Heads to Wellfleet, Gets Tranquilized and Released to Central Mass.
Mass Wildlife concerned "for the safety of both the bear and people" in Provincetown.

The bear who swam across the Cape Cod Canal shortly before Memorial Day and landed on Cape Cod, being spotted in almost every town from Sandwich to Provincetown and back again was captured Monday by the Massachusetts Environmental Police.
Since the Cape Cod bear was hanging out in downtown Provincetown over the weekend, and people were actively searching for the animal, wildlife officials were concerned for the safety of both the bear and people.
By Monday night the bear was spotted in Wellfleet and shot with a tranqulizer dart under the direction of wildlife officials.

The young male bear, a toddler, weighs approximately 180 pounds, and was transported and released by MassWildlife biologists to Central Massachusetts at 9pm Monday.
MassWildlife biologists and Environmental Police checked in with the bear last night and reported that he was in good condition.
