Child Suffers Burn On Cape Cod, Hot Water Heater Likely To Blame

A one-year-old boy was flown to a regional trauma center for the injuries. Those injuries don't appear to be life-threatening, police said.

BOURNE, MA — A one-year-old boy on Cape Cod suffered burns that required a MedFlight to a regional trauma center on Monday evening, police said.

Around 7:45 p.m., Bourne police were dispatched to a residence on Andrew Road, in Bourne, to assist the Bourne Fire Department with a one-year-old male that had suffered a burn.

Upon arrival, officers and paramedics located the boy inside the home and began to render aid. Boston Medflight was requested to respond and transported the boy to a regional trauma center for further treatment.

A preliminary investigation determined that a faulty hot water heater most likely caused the burn. The child's injuries don't appear to be life-threatening, police said.
