Falmouth Winter Storm: Coastal Floods, Heavy Winds Possible
The National Weather Service issued a coastal flood advisory in Barnstable County Monday night, and its in place until 4 p.m., Tuesday.
FALMOUTH, MA — A winter storm hit Falmouth Monday, and unlike much of New England that saw heavy snow, it turned to rain quickly on the Cape. But that rain could cause flooding.
The National Weather Service issued a coastal flood advisory in Barnstable County Monday night, and its in place until 4 p.m., Tuesday. On the Cape, 1-2 feet of inundation above ground level is expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
Regardless of flooding, the rain is expected to last at least through the morning, and wind gusts could reach over 25 mph.
