Falmouth Firefighters Rescue Cat Trapped Inside Wall
At first, the cat was trapped under the floorboards but somehow made its way inside the walls of a Falmouth home.

FALMOUTH, MA — "One down eight to go!" Falmouth fire officials said after rescuing a cat that got stuck inside a wall in a house on Westmoreland Drive. Around 3:55 p.m. Thursday, the cat's owner called fire officials and said her cat was stuck inside the floorboards — except when fire and animal control officials, arrived there was no signs of a cat. Officials thought it might have gotten outside, but somehow, the cat ended up stuck behind a wall.
Fire officials left, and the owner waited to see if her cat showed up until she started hearing meows coming from inside the wall. She called the fire department again around 8:45 p.m., and firefighters could also hear the cat inside the partition near the chimney.
Deputy Chief Scott Thrasher said firefighters spent the next 30 minutes cutting in the wall, and eventually the cat came out on its own once the hole was big enough for it to escape. The cat wasn't hurt, damage to the wall was minimal and the owner was happy, Thrasher said.

"We cut as neatly as we could in the dry wall and found the cat in the partition near the chimney ..." Thrasher told Patch. "they tool the time to minimize the damage. They knew where the cat was, but they were concerned about damage and electrical wires. You just don't cut through a wall and not know what's behind it."
Thrasher said he wasn't exactly sure how the cat ended up inside the wall after being trapped in the floor, but he said there was a lot of void space.

"The older the home, the more possibilities that exist," Thrasher said.
