Falmouth High Car Fire Caused By 'Mechanical Failure,' Officials Say
No one was injured, but two other cars suffered minor heat damage.
FALMOUTH, MA — A car fire in the student parking lot at Falmouth High School caused minor heat damage to two other vehicles, Falmouth fire officials said.
At 7:20 a.m. on Monday, Falmouth Emergency Communications received a report of a car fire in the student parking lot at Falmouth High School.
Engine 21 and Car 28 from Station 1 responded immediately.

Upon arrival, crews found a significant fire in the engine compartment that was spreading to the passenger compartment. Due to the volume of fire and proximity to other vehicles, Engine 21 established a supply line from a nearby hydrant.
The fire was quickly extinguished. Two vehicles parked next to the burning car received minor heat damage to their exteriors.

There were no injuries.
"We'd like to commend several bus drivers on scene who attempted to extinguish the fire before our arrival," fire officials said.
The cause of the fire appears to be a mechanical failure.
