Falmouth Police Alert After House Theft

Falmouth police are urging residents to lock homes and vehicles after a theft over the weekend.

FALMOUTH, MA — Falmouth police are urging residents to lock their homes and vehicles after a house theft over the weekend. Police advised residents to follow the "#9PMRoutine" social media awareness campaign popularized earlier this year by a Florida sheriff's department. The campaign recommends residents lock homes and vehicles at 9 p.m. nightly to prevent theft.

"The "9 pm Routine" is simply a friendly reminder to remove valuables from your car and lock up at the end of the day," Falmouth police said in a statement. "Unlocked vehicle thefts are 100 percent preventable ... We have extended the lockup tip to homes due to recent break-ins."

Falmouth police said officers investigated a house theft Saturday.
