Thousands In Falmouth Won't Have Power Until Perhaps Weekend
Nearly 5,600 Falmouth residents are still without power, and it might not be restored until the weekend.
FALMOUTH, MA — Power has slowly come back to Falmouth homes following Wednesday's storm, but some residents could be without power until the weekend, according to Eversource. As of 12:17 a.m., 5,580 customers remain in the dark.
Falmouth was one of the most affected areas with 7,823 customers reporting no power Thursday morning, according to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency.
Although some of the homes have since had their power restored, the rest may have to wait. Eversource said communities on the South Shore and Cape Cod will have power back by 8 p.m. Saturday.

The cleanup work will take a massive effort for the emergency crews dealing with broken power line poles and uprooted trees after an intense storm whipped across the region with wind gusts as powerful as 90 mph.
The outages and the number of downed trees closed Falmouth Public Schools Thursday, along with the district's YMCA before and after school child care. Outages are slow to be resolved around the state because the blustery winds have persisted. Wind gusts hit 55 mph Thursday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Falmouth police urged residents to cancel their morning commute Thursday while Eversource and the Department of Public Works worked to clear the roadways of trees and power lines. One of those trees made the commute to Woods Hole particularly difficult after it fell near the intersection of Quisset Avenue and Sippewissett Road.
Wednesday's wind gusts pushed an entire dock with boats attached to it on Great Pond to shore. If anyone sees a lost boat, call the registration number into the harbormaster's office, so the owner can be tracked down.
Sand blowing in the wind was also an issue in coastal areas like Surf Drive which is now impassable.
Probably a good idea to stay away from Surf Drive this morning! https://t.co/xHHzZXCyF0
