Falmouth Raises Pay For Lifeguards
The town is offering a higher hourly wage and bonus opportunities to address a shortage that left two beaches unattended last summer.
FALMOUTH, MA — Falmouth is offering a higher hourly wage and bonuses for lifeguards and parking attendants in an effort to rebound from a shortage of employees last summer.
Seasonal workers' pay will increase between 75 cents and $1 per hour, based on years of employment, Acting Beach Superintendent Maggie Clayton told the Falmouth Enterprise. Lifeguards will earn a $300 bonus if they start work on or before June 27 and another $300 bonus if they continue working through Aug. 22.
Last summer, Stony and Megansett beaches were unattended, and there were fewer guards at the remaining beaches due to a lifeguard shortage, the Enterprise reported.
