Falmouth's Holidays By The Sea Returns To Cape Cod This Weekend

From the Village Green lighting to 5Ks, holiday strolls and the 61st annual Christmas Parade, here's what to know this weekend.

FALMOUTH, MA — One of the most anticipated weekends of the year on Cape Cod is finally here.

Falmouth's Holidays by the Sea weekend features three days of holiday fun ranging from tree lightings to 5K races and much more in between.

The events begin on Friday with caroling and a holiday open house at the Nobska Lighthouse, and continues throughout the weekend with the lighting of the Village Green and Falmouth's 61st annual Christmas parade.

Nobska Lighthouse Holiday Open House

  • Friday, Dec. 6, 5 to 8 p.m.

"Take the trolley* from Woods Hole Village to Nobska Point to have your picture taken with Mrs. Claus and enjoy holiday music by The Brass Ring ensemble. Warm up inside the renovated Keepers House, enjoy cocoa and cookies provided by Coffee Obsession, color a portrait of Nobska created by local artist Karen Rinaldo, Gallery on Main, and see inside the lighthouse tower at night!

Arrival by trolley ONLY*, there will be no public parking available during this event. Trolley STOP at the Candle House @ 127 Water Street.

Caroling in Woods Hole Village

  • Friday, Dec. 6, 5:30 p.m.

"Join us as we herald in the Christmas season with caroling at Waterfront Park, Water Street in Woods Hole Village. The Solstice Singers lead us in a festive seasonal sing-along of familiar holiday classics. Hop on the trolley on Water Street and take it to Nobska Lighthouse to partake in their Holiday Open House. Remember to dress warmly."

Seafaring Santa Sails into Falmouth Harbor

  • Saturday, Dec. 7, 10:30 a.m.

"We welcome Seafaring Santa and the Falmouth High School Chorus at Falmouth Harbor, near The Band Shell, on Scranton Avenue. Candy Canes for all the kids!"

13th Annual GhELF Run

  • Saturday, Dec. 7, 3 p.m.

"Wear your wildest holiday “jingle bells” festive outfit to run the course starting and ending at The Run House, 227 Main Street. The GhELF Run will consist of a half mile run for children 12 and under. Jingle bells for all. Click HERE to register."

13th Annual Jingle Jog 5K

  • Saturday, Dec. 7, 3:30 p.m.

"Wear your wildest holiday “jingle bells” festive outfit to run the course starting and ending at The Run House, 227 Main Street. You might be running in twilight, so wear your reflective gear! Jingle bells for all."

Falmouth Village Holiday Stroll

  • Saturday, Dec. 7, 4 to 8 p.m.

"Main Street & Queen’s Buy Way, Falmouth Village Join us at the Annual Holiday Stroll hosted by the Falmouth Village Association for the ultimate Holiday celebration. Discover unique gifts at our charming local shops, dine in our many restaurants, be serenaded by the Dickens Carolers, and cheer on adult and kid runners during the Jingle Jog 5k and Kids GhELF Run! Visit with Santa at Barbo’s Furniture and follow him to the Lighting of the Village Green. Join Holiday Characters on the Library Lawn for Cookies & Hot Cocoa, Line Dancers on Main Street, listen to the Cranberry Shores Chorus, capture wintry memories on the Cape Cod Photo Bus. Enjoy live music, be mesmerized by Turning Pointe dance performances, and don’t forget to get your face painted! Be sure to join us for this enchanting evening of holiday cheer on beautiful Falmouth Main Street! Parking is available at both Mullen-Hall and Lawrence Schools. Lighting of the Village Green

  • Saturday, December 7, 6 p.m.

"Main Street, including the Falmouth Village Green will be decorated for Christmas. You can't miss the ONE magic moment that transforms the Village Green to Santa's wonderland and brings families together in festive high spirits to start the holidays. The Falmouth Town Band Brass and Falmouth Chamber Director, Betsy West, will lead the holiday caroling before a special visit from Santa. Dress warmly and bring flashlights and your best holiday cheer!"

61st Annual Falmouth Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade

  • Sunday, Dec. 8, 12 p.m.

The theme for this year's parade is "Sights & Sounds of the Holidays."

"Bring your family, your guests and your friends to the BEST and largest Christmas Parade in all of Southeast New England. Presented for the 61st consecutive year by the Falmouth Chamber of Commerce and led by David Vieira, our Falmouth Town Crier. The parade, organized under the theme of “Sights and Sounds of the Holidays," will step-off at noontime from Dillingham Avenue and Davis Straits and proceed along Main Street to the Village Green. It will feature decorated floats, marching bands, costumed characters and Santa Claus! Smile for the cameras, as FCTV will once again film the entire parade for local viewing."
