Gov. Patrick Awards Falmouth $47,934 to Restore Wetlands

Gov. Deval Patrick awarded $47,934 to the West Falmouth Harbor conservation district Tuesday in an effort to help the town restore area wetlands, according to an administration press release.

The money will be used to "determine the feasibility of restoring three previously-identified tidally-restricted wetland systems within this impaired water body" and "to improve water quality and restore salt marsh and benthic habitats," the press release stated.

Initiated by the federal Clean Water Act, Falmouth's new funds were part of a $209,171 grant given to five Massachusetts groups that work on improving water quality. The other recipients include Arlington, Provincetown, Westwood and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council.
