Heavy Machinery Catches Fire At Cape Cod Facility

Officials needed to use foam to extinguish burning fuel during the fire, officials said.

FALMOUTH, MA — A fire involving heavy machinery needed two fire resources to be extinguished, officials said.

On Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., an employee at Cape Cod Aggregates on Thomas B. Landers Road called the Falmouth Fire Department reporting a vehicle fire.

Officials found a piece of heavy machinery, a front-end loader, about 80 percent involved in fire, they said.

The fire was quickly knocked down, but burning fuel required the use of foam to extinguish the fire completely, officials said.

A second engine was requested to provide an additional water source.
