An injured turkey with an arrow stuck in its side that was spotted last month continues to roam around town, the Cape Cod Times reported.
The "skewered" animal was first sighted on June 24 on Locusfield Road by Skip Cornell, who said he was awoken by its strange "crying" noises.
Since then, the same pierced turkey has appeared multiple times in Cornell's yard and neighborhood, as well as Falmouth High School and Pinecrest Beach Road.
Earlier this week, Cornell and a dozen other neighbors had the turkey cornered and were about to capture it when it ran away, the Times wrote. The neighbors were shocked it could run so well with an arrow in its side.
"If someone was able to get the arrow out and treat the wound, it would be fine. But with an arrow in its butt, it's going to get an infection and die a slow, painful death," he said.
