Obituary: David F. Sullivan, 83, Of Falmouth

David was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Wasp.

FALMOUTH, MA – David Francis Sullivan, DMD, 83, of Falmouth and Brockton, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018. He was the beloved husband of 58 years to Patricia R. (Laughlin) Sullivan and revered father of daughter, Maureen R. Sullivan and her husband Marc Resnick of Newton, Patricia A. Sullivan of Tewksbury and predeceased by his eldest daughter, Tara A. (Sullivan) Gilhuly. David is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter as well as many nephews and nieces.

Born in Brockton on January 22, 1935 to the late Capt. Daniel Edward Sullivan and the late Catherine (Butler) Sullivan and predeceased by his brother Edward J. Sullivan. Upon graduation from Brockton High School (1952) he briefly entered the Cardinal O’Connell Seminary before graduating from Boston College followed by Tufts Dental School where he graduated in 1960 and practiced dentistry for over 30 years in Brockton. During this time David joined the US Navy from 1960-1980 as a Lieutenant Commander and served aboard the USS Wasp.

Upon retirement, David and Pat moved to Falmouth, MA and spent winters in Naples, FL. He was an avid boater, fisherman, gardener, athlete and Boston sports fan. Passions that he shared with his wife, daughters and grandchildren now provide memories they hold dear.

A visitation will be held from 9:00-10:30am on Monday, July 30, at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Falmouth. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00am at St. Anthony’s Church, 167 E. Falmouth Hwy (Route 28), E. Falmouth. Burial will be at 12:45pm in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
