Provincetown Rings In New Year With Polar Bear Plunge

This year's annual New Year's Day plunge raises funds for the Center for Coastal Studies. Here's what to know ahead of the swim.

PROVINCETOWN, MA — Residents of Cape Cod have many opportunities to hop in the water for a New Year's Day swim, but one town does it bigger than anywhere else.

Provincetown's annual Polar Bear Plunge in back this week on New Year's Day, and this year is raising additional funds for the Center for Coastal Studies.

Now in its 9th year, hundreds of swimmers are expected at the 12 p.m. plunge in the Provincetown Harbor.

Sign-ups are still active, and the entrance fee is $60. Residents and participants can also register with a team this year.
