Rollover Cape Cod Crash Could Lead To Charges For MA Man

The crash left the car on its roof across two lanes of traffic. Police said an investigation is ongoing.

BOURNE, MA — A 21-year-old Massachusetts residents was injured during a rollover crash on Tuesday. Police said drug impairment could have been a factor.

Around 1:25 a.m., the Bourne Police Department responded to Route 28 just before Brigadoone Road. for a reported rollover crash.

Officers arrived on the scene and located the 21-year-old driver, of Whitman, suffering from serious but not life-threatening injuries.

He was taken from the scene to an area hospital for treatment.

Macarthur Boulevard was closed until about 3:30 a.m. as they tried to clear the vehicle, which was blocking both lanes of trafficking while sitting on its roof.

Officers were able to determine that the vehicle was headed south and veered off the right side of the road, striking a fire hydrant and then a large tree. This caused the vehicle to roll over and land in the middle of the road, approximately 129 feet from the point of impact with the hydrant, officials said.

The crash is still under investigation, pending possible criminal charges, officials said.
