Some Power Outages Lingering On Cape Cod After Nor'easter

Heavy snow and winds caused downed wires and left some Cape Cod residents without power. On Wednesday morning, some outages are lingering.

CAPE COD, MA — Eversource is reporting lingering power outages in communities across Cape Cod after Tuesday's storm, but hopes to have all power restored by Wednesday evening.

The storm brought over 8 inches of snow to some parts of the Cape, downing power lines and causing problems for drivers.

As of 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Eversource reports outages in Barnstable, Brewster, Chatham, Dennis, Falmouth, Harwich, Mashpee, Orleans, Sandwich, Truro, Wellfleet and Yarmouth.

According to the Falmouth Police Department, Eversource brought in extra line crews and tree crews to address power outages on Tuesday.

The company said it made progress in getting power back for many, but officials shifted focus to Cape Cod hoping to get power back for all customers by 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

"We've restored more than 38,000 of our customers affected by today's strong storm and we're shifting crews to our hardest-hit Cape communities," Eversource said on Tuesday. "We'll continue working through the night and expect to have nearly all our customers back on by 6 p.m. tomorrow, with many restored sooner."
