Tina's Delicious Ice Cream Lives up to Name

Sweet tooths, rejoice. Tina's Delicious Ice Cream is into its third week of business in East Falmouth, and it certainly lives up to his name.

Opened on July 3, Tina's is located by the future home of the Teaticket Park on Teaticket Highway and features a variety of fun-flavored, hand-scooped ice cream, frozen yogurts and penny candies.

Owner Tina Mendoza said business has been very good the last few weeks and said she has stayed very busy.

Like most other Cape ice cream joints, Tina's is cash-only. But unlike others, the place stays open relatively late. It technically closes at 9 p.m., Mendoza said, but she keeps the place open as long as people are still showing up.

As a night owl, I was thrilled to find it open around 11 p.m. on a Sunday night. And better yet, the ice cream was great. I had the Snickers sundae with Snickers topping (never too much Snickers), which Mendoza told me was one of the most successful flavors.

Other popular ice cream flavors include peppermint stick and Oreo, Mendoza said.

Plus, there's ample parking, air-conditioned indoor seating and numerous picnic tables. The parking lot can be pretty full in the peak hours around 8 p.m., but nothing can compare to the notoriously-terrible line outside of Dairy Queen.

My verdict? Skip the Blizzard and go support local business.
