UPDATE: Tropical Storm Warning Issued For Cape Cod Amid Hurricane Lee
A storm surge watch is also in effect for Cape Cod Bay and Nantucket as much of coastal New England is under the tropical storm watch.

CAPE COD, MA — Hurricane Lee continues its path north on Thursday, prompting the National Weather Service to issue storm warnings and watches for much of coastal New England.
A tropical storm watch was issued on Wednesday for Watch Hill, Rhode Island to Stonington, Maine, which includes Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket and other coastal regions of Massachusetts including Boston.
The National Weather Service updated that notice for Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket on Thursday, however, updating that to a warning.

The watch indicates that forecasters expect tropical storm conditions to make it to the area within 48 hours. For Massachusetts, the National Weather Service expects Lee to "brush by" the southern New England coastline late Friday night into Saturday.
Most of the region will be paying attention to the wind brought by the storm, with gusts projected as high as 50 to 60 mph. Eastern New England could also see 1 to 4 inches of rain from Friday to Saturday night.

Cape Cod will see the brunt of the storm in Massachusetts, including the high end of those wind gust forecasts.
A storm surge is also in effect for Cape Cod Bay and Nantucket, meaning "there is a possibility of life-threatening inundation, from rising water moving inland from the coastline, in the indicated locations during the next 48 hours," the National Weather Service said.
In Cape Cod Bay and Nantucket, NWS officials said water could reach heights of 2 to 4 feet during the storm surge, while other parts of Massachusetts including Sagamore Beach, Chatham and Martha's Vineyard could see water reach 1 to 3 feet.
On Thursday, the National Hurricane Center is reporting tropical storm conditions in Bermuda. There also already reports of dangerous surf and rip current conditions along the east coast.
