Snow Cancels In-Person Classes In Falmouth Thursday
With the first major storm of the season expected in Falmouth overnight Wednesday here's what to know in town.

FALMOUTH, MA — Just when you thought 2020 might let you out, many of you are about to get snowed in.
With more than 6 to 8 inches of snow possible across Cape Cod overnight Wednesday into Thursday, here are some things to know about how the snow might affect you once you are all stocked up on milk, bread and maybe a few warm, holiday treats.
While the storm could be enough to keep kids home from school, state officials are allowing school districts to hold remote days instead of canceling school amid the coronavirus pandemic, and that's what Falmouth Public Schools decided to do. There will be a one-hour delay to the schedule, but Thursday will be treated as a remote day in Falmouth

This is of course dependent on power outages, which could affect the district's ability to have remote learning. If that becomes an issue, a normal snow day will take place, and the day will be made up at the end of the year. Superintendent Lori Duerr said she will send an alert to families in the morning if power outages become an issue.
Trash Pickup
Curbside trash and recycling pickup will be delayed a day for the rest of the week. If you are scheduled to be picked up Thursday, your pickup day will be Friday. If you are scheduled for Friday, your pickup day will now be Saturday.

Cape Cod will see lower snowfall totals than the rest of the state, with rain mixing in with the snow early Thursday morning. Wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour mean several parts of Massachusetts could see blizzard conditions.
Snowfall will be heaviest between midnight and 8 a.m. Thursday. The snow will stop between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday as the storm moves from west to east across Massachusetts.
