Man Charged with Taking Heroin in Starbucks Bathroom

A Dedham man was arrested on several drug charges on Sunday evening.

The following information was supplied by the Boston Police Department. Charges listed do not indicate a conviction.

Boston Police arrested a Dedham man for allegedly shooting heroin inside a bathroom at a Huntington Avenue Starbucks. 

According to police, officers responded to a call at 273 Huntington Avenue at 5:42 p.m. on Sunday March 10 for an unknown man who had locked himself in a bathroom for 45 minutes and would not come out.

Officers knocked on the door several times before the man opened the door, police said. Police said when he opened the door, they saw a hypodermic needle with a brown substance loaded in it and a red bottle cap placed on top of the toilet.

The suspect reportedly told officers that he had shot up heroin and was preparing another dose. Police then placed the man in handcuffs. During a search, police allegedly discovered a small bag of off-white powder.

David Michael McManus of 43 Paul Street, Dedham, was charged with possession of a Class A substance. McManus was also wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Norfolk County Superior Court for unarmed robbery from January 2013.
