Driver Reportedly Struck Pedestrian, Kept Driving on Lansdowne Street

The following information was supplied by the Boston Police Department. Charges listed do not indicate a conviction.

Boston Police Officers were on a foot patrol near Lansdowne Street when they observed a brown Mercury Grand Marquis strike a pedestrian at about 12:29 a.m. on March 3.

Officers reported that the driver made no attempt to stop after striking the victim. Officers reported that the sound of the impact was “very loud and caused a large number of citizens on Lansdowne Street to gas and some screamed in shock.”

The vehicle then continued down towards Ipswich Street towards Van Ness and Boylston Street. One officer gave chase to the suspect while the other tended to the victim.

The vehicle was eventually pulled over in the Back Bay on Boylston Street. The suspect was held at the scene and the officer from Lansdowne Street was able to identify the suspect. The suspect was detained at the scene. Officers found a mason jar filled with marijuana in plain sight on the passenger seat.

Everett Strauss of 21 Eagan Place, Peabody, MA, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident. Strauss was also issued a citation for possession of a Class D substance. Roberts Towing towed the vehicle.

The victim was taken to Beth Israel Hospital. They were alert and conscious, complaining of right leg and shoulder pain. The victim also had a cut on their face.
