Officers worked on entering the front door while backup canvased the outside incase the suspect tried to make a run for it out of a side window.

As officers were trying to gain access into the front foyer, the suspect exited the apartment on his own, reportedly waving his hands about, stating “just shoot me already.” Officers broke down the door and took control of the suspect after a brief struggle.

At this point, the EMTs arrived and took the victim to Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Officers spoke with the witness, who stated that about 15 minutes prior to the officer’s arrival, the victim started banging on her door, screaming for help. When the witness opened the door, they saw the victim covered in blood, which was scattered throughout the hallways. Officers observed several splatters in the hallway, leading them to believe that a struggle ensued.

Detectives arrived on the scene to photograph the hallways. They also found a bloody knife inside the apartment. The victim had wounds on their hands from taking a defensive position from the knife attack.

Officers called the property manager to clean up the halls. Phillip Curry, 66 Fenway Street, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, resisting arrest and assault and battery on a police officer.
