The Fenway Neighborhood Launches Public Art Walk
Public art walk launches summer season of creative workshops, outdoor fitness classes, and live music

A public art walk in The Fenway will open to the Fenway community and visitors this week, centered around new major art installations on Van Ness Street.
Designed to reflect the neighborhood’s cultural vibrancy, the six-stop Fenway Art Walk, sponsored by Samuels & Associates, showcases a mix of unique sculptures by world renowned contemporary artists, cause-inspired street art murals, and installations by several local artists – all within 5 minutes’ walking distance of each other, and Fenway Park.
“The Fenway is home to several of Boston’s most noteworthy cultural institutions, and we have been intentional about building upon those roots in partnership with the Fenway community for nearly two decades,” said Steve Samuels, founder and chairman of Samuels & Associates. “This experiential art walk connects the public to thoughtful pieces ranging in style and message. Furthermore, the neighborhood’s fantastic restaurants, retail, famous music venues, fun outdoor pop-ups, and beautiful open spaces are the perfect backdrop for an experience for all to enjoy.”

Over the past several years, Samuels & Associates has unveiled significant permanent installations that have built upon the neighborhood’s reputation for world-renowned arts and culture. Major pieces by artists Alexandre da Cunha and Nicole Eisenman have further established The Fenway as the heart of Boston’s cultural scene.
This season, Samuels & Associates is building upon that foundation. As part of the “Sea Walls: Artists for Oceans” 2021 program, Japanese contemporary artist Dragon76 will paint a large-scale ocean advocacy mural on an iconic passthrough wall connecting Brookline Avenue and Van Ness Street.

In further support of the “Sea Walls: Artists for Oceans” ongoing advocacy efforts, Samuels has engaged another PangeaSeed Foundation artist, Yellena James, to create a large-scale exterior window installation to wrap the second story of 100 Van Ness Street, with a piece titled Reflection III.
Boston-based MFA Artist in Residence Rob Stull, an accomplished illustrator, curator, and comic book veteran, has created an original installation at 86-88 Van Ness Street. A heavily involved community partner, Stull is planning additional community elements for Van Ness Street later this season.
Samuels & Associates is collaborating with local partner Fenway Studios, an artist cooperative in the East Fens. This collaboration kicks off with the installation of a rotating art gallery at Space 120, located at 96 Van Ness Street. Oil paintings which draw inspiration from architecture and the texture of the city by Mary Hughes will open the season and will be on display until August 31.
As a community builder and developer, Samuels & Associates has sought to enrich the fabric of The Fenway over nearly two decades. A conscientious approach to development informs neighborhood programming, including this season of events at 401 Park, where visitors and residents alike can enjoy creative workshops like paint nights, bouquet-making, and charcuterie board classes; “Fit in the Fenway” group classes from local fitness favorites The Handle Bar, The Coastal Method, Barre Groove, and others; plus live music by rising local artists at 401 Park.
