Five Things You Need to Know Today, Monday, August 13

Here are five things going on in and around town.

1.  Clear Day: The National Weather Service is predicting a mostly clear day with highs in the 80’s. The evening may cloud over and cool down to the mid 60’s.

2.  Taking Healthy Steps: Taking Steps encourages middle school aged girls through the art of dance. Each year, nearly 200 girls learn how to use movement as a means of expression in order to better their physical, emotional and social well-being. The first session runs from August 13 to August 17. The cost is $250. 

3.  Monday Mazes: The BPL is holding a maze challenge. Be one of the first three teens to complete the maze without help and you can win a Boston Public Library backpack.

4.  August Writing Workshop Series: Join 826 Boston for a two week session of free writing work shops for all ages from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

5.  Chorus pro Musica Summer Sings: Head down to the Old South Church to hear talks on great composers and performances. Tonight’s performance will be Bach, Jesu meine Freude. Cost $8, air-conditioned and wheel chair accessible.
