Man Charged with Assault and Battery on Hemenway Street

The following information was supplied by the Boston Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction. 

Police arrested a Mattapan man after a domestic dispute turned violent early Saturday morning. 

Boston Police Officers responded to a report of an assault and battery in progress at 97 Hemenway Street at 2:30 a.m. on February 23.  

When police arrived, a female victim gave police a description of the suspect. Based on the description, police determined they were familliar with the suspect for previous run-ins, and were able to locate him about a block from the Hemenway apartment.  

Police said the suspect and victim had begun to argue, but the verbal fight turned physical. Police noted they had trouble getting more details on the incident because the victim appeared intoxicated. 

Officers arrested Victor Gray of 34 Holmfield Ave., Mattapan, and charged him with assault and battery, and malicious destruction of property.
