More Than 50 Displaced From 9-Alarm Allston Fire

The cause of Wednesday's fire is still under investigation.

The Boston Fire Department said Thursday that 54 residents were displaced as a result of a nine-alarm fire that broke out in a brick apartment building on Harvard Terrace in Allston Wednesday night.

Five firefighters and seven people were injured as a result of a blaze, which sparked late Wednesday and burned for several hours thereafter.

On Thursday, Boston fire officials estimated the fire caused about $2 million in damages to the residence at 12 Harvard Ter., with six apartments having sustained extensive fire and water damage. Horace Mann School in Allston provided shelter for victims, according to BFD. Boston agencies as well as American Red Cross worked to provide assistance, as well.

The Boston Fire Investigation Unit was on-scene with two Boston police detectives Thursday to investigate the cause and origin of the fire.
