Police: Caretaker Assaulted Disabled Man, Threw His TV Out the Window on Hemenway Street

Police said they found a flat-screen TV and other belongings outside lying in the snow.

A caretaker of a disabled man was charged with destroying property and assault and battery on Hemenway Street.

Boston Police Officers responded to a possible home invasion at 97 Hemenway Street at 5:17 p.m. on March 19.

When officers arrived, they entered the building and observed that the apartment was in disarray with broken objects and garbage tossed all over the floor, according to reports. 

Officers spoke with the residents, trying to gather information, but the parties were reportedly uncooperative, police said.

A witness approached the officer in the hallway and told them that they had called 9-1-1. The suspect worked as a personal care assistant to the resident, who is disabled. At some point around 2 p.m., the suspect began throwing the victim’s belongings out of the window. Officers observed a flat screen T.V., a mirror, clothing and pictures lying in the snow.

The officers escorted the suspect out of the apartment, into the hallway. The victim told officers that the suspect grabbed him and knocked him to the floor twice prior to their arrival. Officers did not observe any injuries to the victim, who declined medical attention.

Officers arrested Raymond Castro of 40 Annunciation Road, Roxbury, and charged him with willful and malicious destruction of property and assault and battery.
