Things to Know in Fenway-Kenmore Today, Dec. 14: Fenway Church Christmas
Here are a few things going on in the neighborhood today and this weekend.

1. Weather: The National Weather Service is predicting a mostly sunny day with a high near 47 degrees.
2. Christmas at Church: Celebrate the holidays at Fenway Church, the church that meets in a bar called Church (69 Kilmarnock St.) Enjoy carols, coffee, scripture reading, Christmas messages, cookies and community on Saturday at 11 a.m. See here for more information.
3. Productive roadway construction season: Mayor Menino announced this week that the city paved nearly 40 miles of roadway during the 2012 construction season, exceeding last year’s total by more than 50 percent. Nearly 700,000 square feet of sidewalk were replaced citywide and more than 1,300 pedestrian ramps were reconstructed, a 42 percent increase from the previous year. City workers also replaced more than 20,000 bricks in sidewalks.

4. Green Line construction starts: Governor Deval Patrick on Tuesday broke ground in the first phase of the long-planned construction to extend the MBTA’s Green Line into Medford and Somerville. By 2017, there should be a direct line from Kenmore to Union Square in Somerville.
5. Fill a Bus for Charity: The MBTA and MassDOT is looking for help filling one of their buses with toys. Drop off new, unwrapped toys to the bus in South Station through Dec. 14, and the gifts will benefit Action for Boston Community Development, Freedom House, The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC) and Yawkey Boys & Girls Club of Boston.
