Things to Know in Fenway-Kenmore Today, Jan. 28: African Dance at Berklee

1. Weather: The National Weather Service is predicting a cloudy day with a high of 34 degrees and snow likely after 4 p.m. They're only expecting less than half an inch of new snow accumulation. 

2. African Dance at Berklee: Tonight, Berklee presents Homeland Security: Celebrating Contemporary and Traditional African Music and Dance, highlighting the rich music, compelling stories, and vibrant dance that are a way of life in Africa. The concert will feature students from Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria and South Africa who are studying at the college on scholarships, as well as students from the U.S. Held at 8:15 p.m. at the Berklee Performance Center, (136 Massachusetts Ave.) See here for more information.

3. Community Lecture: Marie-Therese Connolly recipient of a MacArthur "Genius" Award for her national leadership in combating elder abuse, speaks about "Emerging from Obscurity: Elder Justice Issues in an Aging America" today at the Northeastern University School of Law (400 Huntington Ave.) See here for more information. 

4. Condo Selling Seminar:  Members of NEC's Jazz and Contemporary Improvisation faculty come together tonight for a rare opportunity to catch them in the act—working in combinations that may never occur outside our walls, along with guest artists from their performance activities outside of NEC. 5. Warm clothing collection: Partnering with Friends of Boston’s Homeless, throughout January Dependable Cleaners will be collecting brand-new or gently used winter hats, scarfs, pair of gloves or mittens, or new pairs of warm socks for the annual Warm Hands, Warm Hearts Campaign at any of their 16 locations. Nearby stores can be found at 110 Newbury St. and 316 Newbury St. Clients using Dependable Cleaners’ pickup and delivery service can also leave donations with their delivery drivers.
