Things to Know in Fenway-Kenmore Today, Nov. 1: Menino Honored at Fenway

Here are five things going on in Fenway-Kenmore and nearby today.

1. Weather: The National Weather Service is predicting a cloudy day with a high in the upper 50s. The evening will cool off to the mid 40s.

2. Horizons for Homeless Breakfast: Horizons for Homeless Children is hosting its 14th Annual Women’s Breakfast at the Westin Copley Place today at 8 a.m. The event will feature a keynote address by Leigh Anne Tuohy, whose story inspired the book and Academy Award-winning movie, The Blind Side. Registration begins at 7:15  a.m. See here for ticket and sponsorship information. 

3. Mayor Menino at Fenway: The American Camp Association of New England will hold its 2nd Annual Camp Champions Celebration honoring Boston Mayor Menino on Thursday at the State Street Pavilion at Fenway Park. The mayor himself may still be recovering from an illness, but the charity event in his honor rolls on.

4. Shipwrecks of Massachusetts Bay: Author Thomas Hall will be at the central branch of the Boston Public Library today from 2 -4 p.m. Hall will talk about the history of eight dreadful shipwrecks in Massachusetts over the years, with research and insight from his latest book. 

5. Glimpse of Postwar Boston 1948 – 1949: Come see photographs from the Traffic Department from post-World War II Boston at the Mayor’s Gallery at 1 Cambridge St. The photos will be on display from today through Nov. 9th.
