- Mayor’s Garden Contest on Cable TV: Boston’s gardening aficionados will have several opportunities to view Mayor Thomas M. Menino’s 2012 Garden Contest awards ceremony on Comcast and RCN cable.
- Community Servings and National Food Day Celebrate Healthy and Sustainable Food Movement:Leading health and nutrition nonprofit Community Servings will join the National Food Day movement on October 24th by raising awareness for healthy, affordable, and sustainable food initiatives.
- Composer David Friedman meets with 200 3rd-6th graders from the Boston Renaissance Charter School in Hyde Park:On October 9-11th, multi-platinum composer, songwriter, and Broadway Musical Director David Friedman returned to Wheelock College for three days of workshops and discussions
- Time Running Out to Enter Statewide Art Competition: Sponsored by MEFA, the College Savings Art Competition is now accepting submissions of artwork depicting "What do I want to be when I graduate from college?" The deadline for children in grades K to 5 to submit their entries is October 31 at 5 p.m.
