What's Open, Closed on Labor Day 2014 in Boston
City offices, schools and banks will be closed for the holiday.

The unofficial end to summer is approaching, as Labor Day arrives on Monday, Sept. 1.
Here’s what’s open and what’s closed in and around the city on Labor Day:
- Banks: Closed
- Retail Locations: Open at owners’ discretion
- Bars & Restaurants: Open at owners’ discretion
- Liquor Stores: Open at owners’ discretion
- Supermarkets: Open
- Stock Market: Closed
- Boston Municipal Offices: Closed, including Boston City Hall, branches of the Boston Public Library, community centers and schools.
- Traffic Advisory: In effect for the Allston-Brighton, Fenway and Mission Hill areas. Read full traffic advisory here.
- MBTA: Operating on a Sunday schedule.
- Parking Meters: Free; time limit is not in effect. All other parking rules, however, remain in effect.

There will be no delay of trash or recycling pickup in the following areas:
- Back Bay
- Bay Village
- Beacon Hill
- Charlestown
- Chinatown
- Fenway
- Leather District
- Mission Hill
- North End
- Roxbury
- South Boston
- South End
There will be a one-day delay for the following neighborhoods:

- Jamaica Plain (If you live in JP and trash is picked up twice per week, do not delay).
- Mattapan
- Roslindale
