Belichick Has No Time For Reporter's Frivolous Question Following Loss

You knew it was not going to end well when she opened with, "Hi, football aside, sorry."

That's how one reporter led off her question to Bill Belichick just minutes after one of the more deflating losses of the season, one in which the Patriots lost their grip on the AFC East in a 33-21 loss to Buffalo.

"I’m doing a story about New Year’s resolutions," the still unidentified reporter bravely continued. "And I was wondering if you had any you wanted to share with your fans and our readers."

Not surprisingly, Belichick's fans and the outlet's readers were not at the forefront of his mind. Belichick put a mercifully quick end to the awkward exchange.

"Yea, no, not right now," he said. "Maybe next week."

Belichick let her down easy — perhaps his heart really did grow three sizes after apologizing to the media last week — but social media didn't. Fans and even other reporters lit up like a Christmas tree seconds after the question.

Some people were amazed at the guts, asking such a frivolous question to an, ahem, disagreeable coach after another tough loss. Others thought she dropped the ball on her timing, but thought she was well within her rights to ask Bill about what he'd be thinking about as the ball dropped.

And others, of course, were misogynistic, claiming this offered irrefutable proof that a woman has no place in the manly-man press conference. (These people are wrong.)

The reporter later tried her luck with running back Damien Harris, who actually said he liked the question, but he was focused on winning games.

See, Bill? That wasn't so hard.
